Game of Thrones Season 4 full HD
If you’ve got five minutes to spare and need a refresher on the Game of Thrones saga, here’s a quick breakdown of everything that happened in season four. Just steer clear of any royal weddings along the way, and as always, beware of adult-only content ahead.
Season four introduces a major player in the Westerosi game: Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne, who arrives in King’s Landing for King Joffrey’s wedding. Oberyn’s goal isn’t diplomacy but revenge for the murder of his sister, Elia. The Lannisters’ luck finally runs out when Joffrey is poisoned at his own wedding feast. Whether you credit Melisandre’s black magic, karmic payback for the Red Wedding, or just the consequences of being a petulant tyrant, Westeros is now short one king. Immediately, Joffrey blames Tyrion for the murder, although Lady Olenna and Littlefinger each privately claim credit for ridding the realm of the inbred boy king. Margaery is advised to seduce Joffrey’s successor, Tommen, which feels a bit soon since he’s just a child.
Meanwhile, Sansa seizes the opportunity to escape the city and join her aunt Lysa at the Vale, accompanied by Littlefinger, who quickly manipulates his way into power and grooms Sansa for her next challenge. Cersei orders Jaime to hunt down Sansa, but Jaime’s better nature wins out. He instead gives his newly forged Valyrian steel blade, Oathkeeper, and the bumbling squire Podrick to Brienne of Tarth, tasking her with finding and protecting Sansa to repay a debt to the late Catelyn Stark.
Tyrion attempts to defend himself during his trial for Joffrey’s murder, but when even his lover Shae betrays him, he has no choice but to call for trial by combat. Cersei chooses the formidable Gregor Clegane, aka the Mountain, as her champion. When both Jaime and Bronn decline, Prince Oberyn eagerly steps up to claim his revenge. He nearly succeeds, poisoning the Mountain with his blade, but lets his guard down and pays the price. The Mountain survives, thanks to the mad scientist Qyburn, leaving Tyrion feeling robbed of justice.
Fortunately, Tyrion escapes with help from Jaime and sets out to punish his father and Shae for their betrayals. After taking care of family business, he joins Varys for a trip across the Narrow Sea to Essos, where Daenerys is learning that being a queen involves more than just having a massive army and three dragons. While liberating the slaves of Meereen, other cities in Essos rise up in rebellion. Dany sends the recast Daario to help maintain order and puts her invasion of Westeros on hold. She suffers a major blow when she discovers that Ser Jorah has been spying on her all along, and her dragons are going through a rebellious phase, torching livestock and people alike. Dany has no choice but to banish Jorah and confine her dragons in a vault.
If anyone is having a rough time in season four, it’s still Theon Greyjoy. After months of torture, he has developed Stockholm Syndrome and fully become "Reek," the cowardly pet of the sadistic Ramsay Snow. Ramsay, eager to earn the Bolton name from his father, claims territory from the Ironborn and hunts for Bran and Rickon, the only threats to his family’s control of Winterfell. However, the Stark brothers prove elusive. After a bad encounter with Night's Watch defectors at Craster's Keep, they make their way to the home of the three-eyed raven. Unfortunately, Jojen dies protecting them from an undead attack, but Bran finally meets the aged raven, who tells him that while he’ll never walk again, he will learn to fly.
In the North, Jon Snow returns to Castle Black and convinces his comrades that he didn’t actually join the wildlings. The Night's Watch barely repels a massive wildling invasion, suffering heavy casualties on both sides, including Jon’s love, Ygritte. Jon sees no choice but to venture beyond the Wall again to kill Mance Rayder. However, before he can complete the task, Stannis Baratheon arrives with his mercenary army, believing that winning the North is the first step toward claiming the throne he merely claimed in the Battle of Blackwater Bay.
As for the last Stark family member, Arya spends season four on an extended road trip with the Hound. She reclaims her stolen blade, Needle, and witnesses the best and worst of her new companion. When they encounter Brienne and Podrick, the Hound is badly wounded, prompting Arya to cut ties and travel to Braavos. There, she hopes to track down Jaqen H'ghar and learn the skills necessary to avenge her family. Just a kid traveling across the world to become a ruthless assassin—what could possibly go wrong?
